Backlinks into the document (Roam Research style)

You know how Roam Research has backlinks at the bottom of the file?

I want to achieve the same thing in org-roam. Obsidian md has a plugin that allows you to do that. Here how it seems to work.

Plugin creates a pane with backlinks and move that into the active document. When you change your active document it will move backlinks section into new active document and update the content.

Maybe use a transclusion to display the content from sidpane into the file?

Essentially, Load backlinks as a transclusion.

Possible? Probably, but I’m not good with elisp.

That would be very cool indeed!

Not sure about the transclusion part, but having backlinks in the same buffer would be a big UX improvement in my book. The sidebar in its current firm had never really clicked for me.

If you want to try the idea out, gkroam functions similar to you describe already. A downside with that package is the lack of support for regular file/ID-links. The package has its own syntax. But it’s a good showcase anyhow!

I already love what I see. Might even change from org roam. Only concern is does it support roam-server (Maybe not) or any graph functionality? The graph is an integral part of my workflow.

Btw, transclusion seems like a good solution for block embed functionality.
